St Vincent De Paul Bag Packing
On Friday the 11th of March, the majority of the TYs took part in Bag Packing in Dunnes Stores, Cornelscourt representing the local and national charity of St Vincent De Paul. This was the second time we had participated in bag packing and once again it was a very rewarding experience. It was a great way to get another taste for raising money and awareness for such a worthwhile charity who give back to our communities day by day. Bag packing taught me that charities do such valuable work and what they do is something they believe in and will make the community a better place.
My time slot was from 2-4pm on the Friday afternoon and it was busy busy busy throughout my time there. There was great camaraderie between the customers, cashiers and myself when bag packing and I met some lovely people who were really chatty and willing to contribute to SVP.
The people who were representing SVP and handing out our awareness high-vis vests were really nice and gave us advice on how to pack bags and we had great chats with them about working for SVP.
It was a great afternoon and I really loved working for such an inspiring charity. I would really like to continue working with SVP through the 5th year SVP conference next year.
Through all our hard work we ended up raising an amazing 1,751 euro. It just shows you that just one day of fundraising can make a difference to charities like SVP and the people they support.
